Female Dentists make up an estimated 50% of the Global Dental Workforce.

Dentistry is one of the work environments where the changing role of women is visible. Dentistry has become a female dominated profession in some countries with an estimated 50% of the global dental workforce under the age of 35 are female.

To try to bridge the gap on the presence of women in the dental profession the FDI women dentists worldwide designed a survey to gain knowledge about the female dental workforce and establish information about specialty training, working in dental institutions and dental faculties.

In present times women make up between 48% and 75% of the dentists workforce, The proportion between male and female dentists are nearly the same in areas like North America and Europe, however in areas like Africa and Asia there is a bit of decline in the gender gap but it is still widely present.
