African Designers to Watch at Paris Fashion Week

Paris Fashion Week, from Feb 26 to Mar 3, 2024, concludes Fashion Month, featuring 71 runways with emerging and established brands. Media, journalists, and influencers attend, showcasing collections that shape global trends.

While European brands dominate, African designers gain prominence, breaking barriers in the fast-evolving fashion landscape. 

Some African designers to watch as they present their brands at 2024 Paris Fashion Week

Benjamin Benmoyal 

Benjamin Benmoyal is the founder Benjamin draws inspiration from his Moroccan origin, he experiments with the Moroccan traditional outfits of drapes and kaftans in his collections.

He has been part of the Paris Fashion Week since 2021, the offspring he puts out are always a delight to watch on the runway and will strike again on the 28th of February 2024.

Mossi

Malian Designer Mossi Traoré launched his label in 2017 and has since then received great attention for his urban and social style, he defines his style as non-conforming. He solicits Malian painter Ibrahim Balki for prints, Mossi will hit the runway at Paris on 27th February 2024.

Maxhosa Africa

Maxhosa Africa is a South African knitwear brand founded by Laduma NgxKolo. NgxKolo’s signature aesthetic is conveyed in his contemporary graphic knitwear collections.

Since its launch, the brand has amassed global recognition and acclaim. Maxhosa Africa will have a showcase at the Paris Fashion Week on 3rd March, 2024.

Xuly Bet

Xuly Bet is a luxury clothing line founded by Malian Senegalese designer Lamine Badian Kouyaté. Kouyaté is known for implementing elements from his native Africa into his design, also bringing a unique perspective to fashion.

The Xuly Bet brand incorporates African culture in every one of its designs. The brand’s show for the week will be held on  5th March 2024.

The fashion industry has seen little presence of African brands however with the recent transformation it is comforting and refreshing to see more African brands soaring in the industry as well as the due credits being rewarded to these African designers for their splendid works and efforts in representing the African continent.
